Ainsley Rose I sat on the exam table waiting for my doctor to make her way to my room, nervously tapping my feet and humming to stay distracted. I was about to tell a medical professional, a total stranger, the deepest desire in my heart. I took a deep breath, choking back tears for no particular reason, and just like that, spoke my plans into reality. For a short time before puberty hit, I was a star babysitter, but as I got older I started to shy away from it. By the time I turned 20, I had fully identified and accepted my baby fever. At this point I was dating mainly women, and I found myself romanticising who would carry a child, who our sperm donors might be and what our little rainbow family might look like. In the years to come I dated all over the gender spectrum, and no matter the situation I was always planning what my family might look like from, well, basically the first date. When I came full circle to my high school days and decided to give cisgender heterosexual men another try, I was surprised to find that unlike my other recent love interests they did NOT like talking about babies on the first date… or the second, or the tenth for that matter. My intense desire to become a mother and refusal to hide those desires led to a whole lot of spooking and ghosting—panic seemed to be the most natural response. A number of boyfriends banned me from discussing the subject with them altogether.

Garth Brooks. Garth Brooks is a pivotal figure in the history of country music, no matter how much some country purists would like to deny it. With his commercially savvy fusion of post-Merle Haggard country, honky tonk, post-folk-rock sensitive singer/songwriter sensibilities, and ’70s arena rock dramatics, Brooks brought country music to a new audience in the ’90s — namely, a mass audience.
Even though they were not written specifically to be played at funerals or memorial services, these tunes carry a special message that can relate to a person who died. Many of these are traditionally chosen by the deceased person’s family, especially if the person who died was a country music lover. Buy Now “One More Day” Made popular by Diamond Rio in , this ballad is about what you would do if you had more time with someone you loved who has died.
The song reminds everyone that people on Earth are angels sent from Heaven and when their time is through here, they will go back. Buy Now “The Dance” This Garth Brooks’ song released in is sure to hit a soft spot as it talks about having one last dance or moment with the one you loved before he or she died.
It can be interpreted in two ways: A tune praising God as He helps you carry the burden of the loved one’s death or a dedication to the deceased person. Who wouldn’t want this sentiment expressed at a funeral?

I rendezvous with country music superstar LeAnn Rimes at a restaurant in a Los Angeles suburb, and she is scanning the room suspiciously. She has a word with the manager, who escorts us to the quiet back patio. Her latest project is the EP One Christmas — Chapter 1, a collection of carols and seasonal songs with a country twist.
Everywhere in the courtyard people are pointing iPhones in our direction. Then I see LeAnn is crying, too. I get very emotional.
Turns out Maddie & Tae were right—new research shows that girls in country songs really are only good for their looks. In the country duo Maddie & Tae released their hit single “Girl in a Country Song,” a song that laments how women in country music today are portrayed as objects, play-things meant to satisfy a man.
Part of that development, by the way, has been capably playing to 75, fans at the Houston Rodeo, and moving , hard tickets in During a recent impromptu “10 Questions” session with All Access Nashville, it was clear this is a mature-beyond-his years only 30 artist, who is completely self-aware. Johnson has been sharpening his chops among the Nashville songwriting community for a while now, and that work is evident with “On My Way To You.
Actually, the opposite is true, because it feels more like Johnson has had an influence on his collaborators, which include veteran Music Row tune smith Brett James. On this single, as with the rest of Johnson’s project, you’ll hear steel, fiddle, dobro, and banjo – in short, actual Country music. Johnson has crafted a true love story with “On My Way To You,” sharing every mistake he’s ever made in life, all of which have brought him to his love: Johnson has a nearly perfect voice for Country music and this type of message; it should be a total smash and is a potential game-changer.
The pendulum has been slowly moving toward a more traditional feel at Country; maybe Johnson is one of the artists who can make that pendulum swing a lot faster.
Disturbingly, their deception has proved an unqualified success. But it is at the expense of women like Jenny, now 46, who is astounded by the way in which she has been duped. She first started internet dating in September , eight months after her seven-year marriage ended. I thought finding a paid service would be more appropriate.
Worryingly, the practice, while misleading, is perfectly legal. Internet dating amongst those aged plus has risen by 40 per cent in the last year Also, in a bid to boost their revenue, the company was specifically employing staff whose sole job it was to set up and run fake profiles on the dating sites, to keep members interested.
(The latter was nominated for Single of the Year and Single of the Year: Duo or Group. Both were up for Song of the Year but lost to “Highway Don’t Care.”) Brandy hails from the Pacific Northwest, a logging town called Morton two hours south of Seattle, interestingly not too far from where another out country singer named Brandi is from.
Yet that’s exactly what he did, thanks to a string of multi-platinum albums, a high-profile marriage to fellow superstar Faith Hill, and Brooks’ own inevitable decline. His sound epitomized the strain of commercial country that dominated his era: Helped out early in his career by several novelty items, McGraw simply wound up cranking out hookier hits on a more consistent basis than any of his peers. By the late ’90s, he was not only a superstar among country fans, but a mainstream celebrity with a large female following.
Though he didn’t know it until years later, his father was baseball player Tug McGraw, a star relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets who’d had a brief affair with McGraw’s mother. He was raised mostly in the small town of Start, Louisiana, near Monroe, and grew up listening to a variety of music: He attended Northeast Louisiana University on a baseball scholarship, studying sports medicine, and it was only then that he started playing guitar to accompany his singing.
He played the local club circuit and dropped out of school in , heading to Nashville on the same day his hero Keith Whitley passed away.

Is there a MeToo moment happening on the country charts? The song she heard with a mature anti-macho perspective is “Drunk Girl” by Chris Janson, a Missouri-born up-and-comer whose debut single, “Fix a Drink,” closely hewed to the pop country playbook of boozing it up down by the swimming hole that’s paid off for stars like Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. It’s a sensitive, sitting-at-the-piano song about spotting a three-sheets-to-the-wind woman in a crowded bar, and resolving to taking her home.
So, in honor of all those wonderful women out there, check out this list of “mom songs” perfect for celebrating that special lady in your life. Happy Mother’s Day! Kari Kenner – Daily Herald.
Share on Facebook Shania Twain ‘s songs, like the artist herself, are timeless. The Canadian country-pop queen reigned the airwaves in the s, blasting out woman-empowering anthems and sensitive ballads that consistently climbed the charts and left fans wanting more. Twain’s captivating voice, sassy attitude and whistle-worthy good looks are just a few reasons she has become the country icon we know today. To honor this accomplished songstress, we have compiled a list of her best songs.
Like so many of her songs, it was written and produced by Mutt Lange, and while not a massive hit it didn’t crack the Top 20 , it’s a beautiful, pleading ballad about patching up a burnt-down love, and who doesn’t love a love song? The song finds Twain madly in love, and a video shows her playfully dancing about a wave-fallen shore. The song is lightly-produced, but still stirring.
It’s hard to hear this song for the first time knowing how her relationship with Mutt Lange would turn out. Though it still contains some of the signature pop melodicism of her other hits, its slower tempo and sad subject matter, coupled with an arrangement carried by acoustic guitar, piano and gentle pedal steel fills, is quite unlike the peppy pop we generally expect from Twain. I Feel Like a Woman. Once again written with husband and producer Robert “Mutt” Lange, the song features an electro-dance pop track with distorted guitars and the kind of strong, frequently repeated vocal hook that is Twain’s signature.
It was a flirty performance from all involved, and while the song reached the Top 10 on the country airplay charts, it arguably did more for Currington than Twain — at the time he was still a very new artist unlikely to get stage time at the CMA Awards. Together the singing couple performed this song in during a performance that was memorable, if a little cheesy.
Oh, and it won the Grammy for Best Country Song in !
